In ELA class we are doing a lot of stuff. For example, our routine is first to write down our homework. After we copied down our homework, we check our SVG packets and see if we have missed any problems. Then we take out our devices and turn them on to write down a response for Shabanu book. Everyday we read a chapter on Shabanu. We also review the homework we are going to have today an due tomorrow. We also get some answers for the SVG pages we are doing that day and due tomorrow. Mrs. Baird always does humor of the day which is when we all finished writing our homework on the agenda, she puts on a video and we atch it. The videos or pictures are usually funny. After we have done all of our stuff, we have a closing activity.
Crispin; The Cross of Lead
We are reading a book called Crispin; The Cross of Lead. It is a good book and I am learning a lot about his life. He is a boy that doesn't know his name and the other people call him Asta's son. That means he is Asta's son. His mom died and so now he is alone in the world. When his mom died, Fathe Quinel told him he could count on him. He also told him that he could stay with him at the church. Asta's son didn't agree, so he ran away from the village because if he stayed John Aycliffe would send him to work with him. Crispin didn't want that so he ran away. This book is very interesting and at the end is very astonishing. I don't want to spoil it, so you can read this book.
I learned a lot in this book. I learned a lot about Crispin and who he was. I learned that he was scared and he didn't want to stay with the priest because he didn't want to work for John Aycliffe. I also learned that when Crispi met Bear, his life changed and he felt better. I also learned that he found out who he was and who was his father. The tools we used was the book and the person who was reading the book.

Shabanu; Daughter of the Wind
We are reading a book called Shabanu; Daughter of the Wind. It is a very interesting book about a girl who is very courageous and is very strong of everything that has happened to her life. Where she lived was a place that I wouldn't want to live in because you have to get married at the age of 13. The first thing that happened was that Shabanu already had someone to marry and she was 12, so she was almost going to marry. In the middle of the story, Shabanu's sister's going to be husband died because he tried to protect her from someone bad. He got shot and died. Shabanu's sister was very sad because now she can't marry. So what happened is that they all decided that Shabanu's future husband be her sister's husband instead. Shabanu was very shocked and sad at the same time. At the end of the story, Shabanu's sister married the boy and Shabanu ran away from home.
I learned a lot of the country Shabanu lived in. I learned that in her country you have to get married at the age 13. I also learned that you have to have thought about who you were going to marry. I also learned that after you are married you can have a child at the age of 14!!. I couldn't believe it. In my mind I thought I am never going to live there because I wouldn't like to marry at a young age. The tools we used was the book and the teacher.

SVG Packets ( Spelling, Vocabulary, and Grammar)

In English class, we are doing SVG packets. SVG stands for Spelling, Vocabulary, and Grammar. In the SVG packets, there are a lot of things in it. For example, on the first page of your packet it will have four activities you will have to do when the teacher tells you. The four activities are for you to use the vicabulary words and there is a page where it gives you options on what you want to use for the vocabulary words. On the next page are the vocabulary words. After the vocabulary words the prefixes, suffixes, or roots are there. After that page, there are the lessons you are going to learn about. For example. the example on the right is what I was doing. There can be possessive pronouns, pronouns, object pronouns, subject pronouns, capitalization, and punctuation. After you have completed the whole packet, you will take a test on what you have learned on a Friday. So study and make sure that you get your parent signature on the front of the page.
On the SVG packets I have learned a lot. I have learned the possessive nouns, object pronouns, subject pronouns, pronouns, capitalization, punctuation, how to find complete sentences, and others things as well. For possessive nouns I have learned where to put the apostrophe in the right place when it is singular or plural. I have also learned how to put the period, question mark, and exclamation mark in the right place. I also learned what kinds of sentences there are. There are four kinds of sentences... declarative, imperative, exclamatory, and the one that you command someone to do. Also I learned how to put the correct capitalization in the right place. That is what I have learned in SVG packets.
