In History, we learned about the roman empire. We did the simulation of the decline of Rome. We also learned that the roman empire wasn't just because it was too big, but also because of the barbarians. We also learned that Rome was really rich and had many useful materials. Some materials were ivory, salt, necklaces, and other useful materials. We also learned that The Roman empire fell, but only half. The other half lasted for another 1000 years and became known as the Byzantine empire. After awhile, the Byzantine empire a fell, and there was no more empires.
In History, we are learning about West Africa. We did a simulation on the trading system of the gold and salt. We are also learning about the rulers that ruled West Africa. We are learning about the empire of Ghana and Mali. We learned that Ghana was a rich empire because of the trading system of the gold and the salt. We also learned that Ghana's decline was because of how large it was. It got so large that the government couldn't rule it anymore. After Ghana's decline, a new empire was ruled. The new empire was Mali. Mali cancelled all the trading routes and the empire wasn't that rich anymore.

Haiku Project
We are doing a project on the story of The Big Wave. It is about two boys and their families lived in Japan. Suddenly, this giant wave comes and hits the village they lived in. Kino's family survived, but Jiya's family didn't survive. His family was drowned by the big wave that had happened and now he is alone with no one. The first thing we had to do for this project is we had to write a summary. Then we had type a haiku for each part you are doing. You also had to add images.
In this project, I learned how to write haikus. I also learned how to use Google drawing. I learned how to add images, text boxes, and how to add color to the background. I also learned how to use the other tools to be more creative. The tools we used were Google drawing and the teacher.

Simulation of the Fall of Rome

In History we did a simulation on the fall of Rome. Each person had a part. The parts are the provinces, the barbarians, and the empire. I was a barbarian. What we had to do was each one of us had a job to do. The barbarians had to go to each province and take their materials and their gold. The provinces had to convince the empire to buy their materials. The empire had to at least give them one piece of gold and soldiers to protect them. After the provinces convinced the empire, the empire had to go to each province and buy them some of their materials. Then the barbarians had to come to attack. After we attacked, we are going to go to take down the empire. We took down half, but the other half lasted for another 1000 years.
I learned how the empire fell. I also learned what kinds of materials the provinces tried to sell to the empire. Also I learned that the barbarians attacked because they wanted gold and more soldiers for them. I also learned that it was a little bit hard for the provinces to convince the empire to buy their materials. The provinces had to convince the empire because they needed money and needed the protection from the barbarians. The barbarians first attacked some provinces, then they attacked the provinces that were left.

Simulation of West Africa

In History we did a simulation on West Africa. Each person had a part. I had the part of a West African. The parts were west africans, warriors, wangarans, and the queen/king. The warriors had to protect the queen/king from the other people. The West Africans had to climb mountains and cross the desert. The Wangarans had to cross the river. The whole point of crossing things was that the West Africans wanted the gold that the Wangarans had and the Wangarans wanted the salt the West Africans had. So what they did was the West Africans had to cross first and put down how many salt they wanted to leave for the Wangarans. They both had to bow to the queen/king without looking at them in the eye. After they had done that, one of the warriors played the drum that meant that the Wangarans could come. The Wangarans had to leave the same amount of gold the Wets Africans left. After that, the queen/king decided how much she/he wanted to take. Whatever was what left the West Africans and the Wangarans could take their part and leave.
I learned that it was hard for the West Africans and the Wangarans to come and trade for gold and salt. I also learned that the queen/king coul've not left anything and both of the troops had to go back with nothing. I also learned that salt was used for money and gold was traded because of its beauty. Also I learned that when the Wangarans came to put down their gold the West Africans had to turn their backs on them. Finally I learned that it was difficult for the two troops cross dangerous places.
