In orchestra, we are playing the songs " Roundelay" and " Canyon Sunset". These two songs are really fun to play. We already know almost all the notes in the violin. We also learned how to hold the bow and how mange to use it while playing the violin. We also learned the parts of the violin and the bow. The parts of a violin are a little bit hard to remember, but the parts of the bow are easier. The parts of the bow are the stick, frog, and the hair. The parts of the violin are the bridge, scroll, fine tuners, chin rest, strings, fingerboard, F hole, pegs, peg box, neck, upper bout, lower bout, waist, and the tail piece. The violin has the more parts then the bow. We also learned how to read the notes without writing them down. The songs that we are playing right now are really fun to play and easy to play. Roundelay is the longest and Canyon Sunset is shorter. My opinion is that Roundelay is the best song I've ever played and the most fun. We are also maybe going to play in a concert on December 12, 2012.
Violin
In violin we are practicing our notes. The notes we have are A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Everyday the first thing we do are the warm ups. The warm ups are when we go A eight times, D eight times, G eight times, and E eight times. After we do the warm ups, we play the song that we practiced the day before yesterday. We also practice new notes we haven't played and then practice a song that has those notes. Ms. Ohm also taught us the note that you have to play with the same bow speed. For example, it has two letters and then at the bottom there is this sign that means to use the bow the same way with the letters. We are also learning how to play harder songs. We are learning songs like French Folk Song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Lightly Row, and Can- Can. Can-Can is my favorite song because it goes fast and it has a good rhythm.
I learned that you have to keep your hand straight when you bring the bow down after playing a letter. I also learned all the notes we learned in 1st quarter. I also learned the parts of a violin and a bow. At first remembering the parts was hard, but if you study you will get the hang of it. Also I learned where to put my fingers on the right place for the letter. I also learned how to read the notes without writing down what letters they are. Also I learned that you can see when someone is playing or not. I also learned that we have to hold the violin and the bow in a certain way. Finally I learned that you have to read the notes really fast so you can be able to play.
My connection to this is that the first time I saw the violin at elementary school, I knew that I wanted to play that instrument. At first I tried many instruments, but I didn't like them. When I got to the violin, I said to myself that this was the instrument I wanted to play. So the first time I played the violin, it was harder than I thought it would be. At first I didn't want to playing that violin, But after a while it kept getting easier and easier until I finally knew how to play the violin. I was so happy because I finally knew how to play the violin. My mom and dad were really happy that I learned how to play the violin. My dad was really happy because his grandpa also played the violin. My music teacher, Ms. Twifford, was the one that taught me how to play the violin. She was the one that told me not to give up and keep trying. I really thank her for teaching me and being patient with me.
The tool we used for this project was the violin. I learned the parts of a violin and the parts of the bow. I also learned how to hold a violin and a bow. Also I learned how to read the notes without writing down what the note is. Finally I learned how to play a few songs for the first quarter.
